Beverly in the Basement
A Memoir By Kathryn Graf
“I once saw a photograph of old New York, somewhere on Broadway, black and white with old cars in a seemingly simpler time. The date on the photo was 1953. And I fantasized for days that if I could magically jump into that tableau, I could taxi up to the Bronx and run up the five flights of stairs and into my mother’s apartment and I could meet her, I could hear her voice; I could warn her.”
